Wounds Heal
She took some pictures off the wall
And said hello to the wind
She would no longer crawl
Or embrace the unkind
She untwisted the rope
And let her spirit go free
She looked toward the hope
And knew she was, and could be
She took a timid step
And then a leap – a run, a dance!
She landed strong, without ebb
And surveyed the vast expanse
She is significant and matters still
Her wounds and scars are real
She smiles – compassion filled
Scars are the memories – the wounds heal.
